Privacy Policy
Freecrop is operated by Franklin Mayoyo, an individual trading as Shared Learning, in Nairobi, Kenya ("we", "us"). Contact: contact@sharedlearning.online.
In short. Your images and screenshots are processed on your device and never uploaded to our servers. If you sign in for a trial or Pro, we keep your email address and licence status. The extension has no ads, analytics or tracking, and we do not sell data.
1. What stays on your device
- Images you edit. Cropping and markup happen in your browser. Exported images are rebuilt from their pixels, so camera and location metadata is not carried over. If you add an image to an X post, it goes to X when you post, under X's own terms.
- Screenshots. "Screenshot this tab" captures the visible part of the tab you are on and stores a full-size copy and a thumbnail in your browser's local storage, up to 12, oldest dropped first. They stay until you delete them, use "Clear all", or turn on automatic deletion (1 hour, 1 day or 7 days) in Settings. Screenshots can show anything on the page, so automatic deletion is worth turning on. Uninstalling removes them.
- Settings, sign-in session and licence status are stored in your browser's extension storage. Signing out removes the session and licence cache.
2. What we collect
Only if you sign in for a trial or Pro:
- Your email address, to send a one-time sign-in code and match your account to your purchase.
- Your sign-in session tokens, to keep you signed in.
- Your licence status: whether you have paid, trial dates, plan tier (such as founder or standard) and when it was last checked.
- Technical data: your IP address and standard request details, which our servers and providers receive whenever the extension or website contacts them.
We do not collect your images or screenshots, browsing history, the content of your posts, your X login or username, or analytics.
3. What the extension does on websites
- On x.com and twitter.com it finds images you add to a post, shows a crop button, and puts your edited image back into the post. It does not read or send your timeline, messages, posts or account details.
- It captures a tab only when you click "Screenshot this tab", and only that tab.
- If signed in, it refreshes your licence status about every 12 hours and when the browser starts. If you set automatic deletion, it clears expired screenshots about every 15 minutes.
- "Get Pro" opens our website with your email address in the link so checkout is pre-filled.
- "Copy debug info" and "Contact support" put technical details (version, plan, sign-in state and, for support, your email) on your clipboard or in an email draft. Nothing is sent until you send it.
4. Our website
The site sets no cookies and has no analytics. It asks our database provider how many founder spots remain, so that provider sees your IP address. Buy and affiliate links go to Lemon Squeezy.
5. Service providers
- Supabase provides sign-in, our database and server functions. It processes your email, session tokens and licence data for us. Its servers may be outside Kenya.
- Lemon Squeezy is our merchant of record. It processes payments, taxes, refunds and the affiliate programme under its own terms and privacy policy. We receive your email, order details and country, and never your card number.
6. Why we use your data, and sharing
We use it to sign you in, run trials, confirm purchases, handle refunds and support, prevent abuse such as repeat trials, and meet legal duties. Where the GDPR applies, our bases are performing our contract with you and our legitimate interest in running and protecting the service. We use data only for the extension's single purpose. We do not sell it, use it for advertising, or use it for credit or lending decisions. We share it only with the providers above, when the law requires, or in a sale of the business (we would tell you first).
7. Retention
We keep account and licence data while your account exists. Lemon Squeezy keeps order records for as long as tax and accounting law requires. On request we delete your account data within 30 days, except what we must keep by law. Data on your device stays until you delete it, sign out or uninstall.
8. Your rights
Under the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019, the GDPR, the UK GDPR, the CCPA and similar laws you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your data, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent. Email us and we will respond within the time the law requires. You may also complain to your data protection authority, such as the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner in Kenya.
9. Security, transfers and children
Connections to our servers use HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure, which is why we collect so little. Our providers may process data outside your country, under appropriate safeguards where required. Freecrop is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their data.
10. Changes and contact
We will update the effective date above when this policy changes and tell you about material changes in the extension or on its Chrome Web Store page. Questions: contact@sharedlearning.online.
